It's amazing how polarized our nation is becoming. Maybe it has always been this way and I'm just starting to pay attention. Who knows. This is getting out of control. Interesting that foxnews.com is the only site that has posted the story. CBS, on the other hand, is giving the prop 8 opposition free advertising with this article. The bias in the mainstream media is sickening. I don't understand how the prop 8 opposition can demand "tolerance" when they obviously have zero tolerance for the opposing viewpoint and no respect for the democratic process. After reading about all the vandalism, fires, attacks, boycotts, vulgarity, etc. I find it extremely ironic that they accuse us of hate.
What kind of world will my children grow up in? What happened to good old-fashioned family values? Scares me to death. I wish I could turn back time.

Holy crap. Excuse my French. What the heck do they think they are doing??? What do they think this will do? Make us love them more, or maybe prove their ability to parent children? 'Cause if I were a judge I'd be super excited to grant custody of a newborn baby to someone who sends Anthrax by mail to a place of worship, to say nothing of the vandalism and other outrageous displays of aggression. Seriously, what is the point? Ironic, yes M-A; it is certainly ironic. That's an understatement.
I totally agree with ecuakim.
I'm at a loss as to what to say. I can't believe it's gotten this out of hand. It is completely backwards that they promote acceptance and love--not hate--and behave in this manner. Apparently we have the freedom of speech and religion...just so long as we say and practice what the world wants us to.
I'm so with you. I have to tell myself not to read this stuff anymore because I get all riled up and upset. What bugs me the most is the accusation that the church is promoting hate, when they're the ones acting so hateful. And those that think that gay marriage wouldn't affect religions at all, and don't think we're headed for more of this:

are deluding themselves. We're on dangerous ground. One side is going to lose some rights, and if (or when) the loss is on the side of religion, it's going to be catastrophic for this country. I seriously look at my baby and wonder what she's headed for. Makes me so sad.
Completely ironic! I feel your sadness too, I hate imagining what kind of world are kids are going to have to live in.
Obviously, I am appalled at the hateful and idiotic attacks perpetrated by the gay community against the Church. While blacks in CA approved this measure 70-30, you will see no protests in Compton, because quite frankly, Adam and Steve would get pulvarized in the street. So pick the Mormons and attack them because you know they are an inherently Christlike people and will do nothing but turn the other cheek.
I am deeply disappointed, however, with the absence of any support or defense from other Christian groups who likewise supported these measures. It makes me return to my deep and inner struggle with my political party, the Republicans. Why am I so loyal to a party whose base is full of hatred toward my faith? Mormons are so supportive of the Republican party and yet, where has that gotten our candidates on a national level? Nowhere.
Who is the highest ranking Mormon elected official? The answer, as far as I know, is Harry Reid, the Democratic Majority Leader in the Senate.
Here, have a little Ranch Dressing with your serving of irony.
Chris
I have to disagree with the Dutkiewicz family. We have seen an outpouring of love and appreciation from other religions, including individuals such as Mike Huckabee, Dennis Pregger, and various others. I feel like this has been a huge uniting experience for Christians in CA.
Side note, alot of California is up in flames right now. Literally. Very expensive neighborhoods are burning down. I know we aren't supposed to assume anything, but it sure does make me think.
